About Ghana in River Watch

Ghana faces increasing challenges from water-related disasters such as floods and droughts, exacerbated by climate change. Youth, as key agents of change, are often underrepresented in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate adaptation efforts. UNESCO and GroundTruth, through the project “Strengthening resilience on water-related disaster under climate change for a sustainable society in Ghana”, funded by the Government of Japan, is working with national stakeholders in Ghana to enhance resilience against water-related hazards by leveraging digital technologies. This includes the use of citizen science to measure water velocities and river discharges capacity-building of youth in DRR and climate change adaptation through citizen science and knowledge exchange. More information can be found in the UNESCO article..
