About Seychelles in Island Watch

As in many SIDS, information gaps hinder long-term management of water resources in Seychelles. Without consistent data, it becomes difficult to anticipate pollution, floods, droughts, or changes in water quality. IslandWatch seeks to address this challenge by mobilizing local knowledge and digital tools.

Therefore, the NGO Gaea in coordination with UNESCO initiated a Citizen Science initiative under the IslandWatch Programme to collect critical water quality indicators, engaging governmental institutions, schools and citizen scientists to collect water quality samples across the Seychelles.
