About Be Resilient

The Be Resilient Citizen Science programme aims at supporting UNESCO Biosphere Reserves to setup and manage active Citizen Science monitoring initiatives. Started in 2021, the programme has gradually expanded, covering a growing number of Biosphere Reserves and involving a large number of citizen scientists to monitor environmental conditions, support social learning and joint identification of challenges.

The programme uses a large number of different tools and methods to monitor its environment and identify key challenges that need to be addressed. It covers both water quantity measurements and water quality measurements, using chemical and biological assessment methodologies. In combination, it offers a comprehensive overview of the state of the freshwater and environmental conditions in the Biosphere Reserve.
