About Cuba in Island Watch

As part of the IslandWatch Initiative and funded through the Flemish-funded project “Addressing Hydroclimatic Risks and Strengthening Water Resilience in Small Island Developing States (Be Resilient SIDS),” a new Citizen Science Initiative was launched. Its goal is to improve water resource management with a climate-focused approach and strengthen response capacity to hydroclimatic risks, ensuring water security and ecosystem services in line with international agendas for SIDS.

The Be Resilient project will work particularly in the Biosphere Reserves in Cuba, highlighting the importance of water resources—both in quantity and quality—for people in the Biosphere Reserves, territories of exceptional natural and human value.
